The fact that the only insults for Belgians are “Belgie” and “sprout” (which was a joke competition in Monty Python: an “invent an insulting name for Belgians” competition) implies that the rest of the world, correctly, doesn’t see Belgium as a real country. What a suitable venue for the capital of the EU.
On the Isle of Wight natives call themselves “caulkheads” and mainland-born settlers are put down as “overners”.
