Of course it’s a bloody waste!!
Once again, HMG is proposing to spend the taxpayers’ money on more and bigger layers of pencil-pushers and bean-counters, all in aid of The Children.
Surely the best way to help the most vulnerable isn’t to create an extra tier of expensive bureaucracy, but better-trained, well paid social workers.
What most families need isn’t a database, children’s tsars or baby bonds. Parents don’t want more regulations and worthless freebies, but good services – proper policing so children can walk home from school without feeling threatened, efficient hospitals for when their offspring become ill, and a good education system. What most children need is for us to stop obsessing about them, and let them get on with their lives.
