Medical Cannabis in Colorado

March 01st, 2004 | Category: Drugs

Kip Strean finally has found his cause. The day he met a ‘soft-spoken, gentle guy’ named Don Nord, Strean joined an increasing number of people in Routt County [CO] — and across the country — who see themselves as activists, helping Nord carry his oxygen tank into battle. ‘It just broke my heart when he told me his story,’ Strean said. In mid-October, agents from GRAMNET, the Grand, Routt and Moffat Narcotics Enforcement Team, raided Nord’s home and
seized his marijuana, pipes and growing equipment — despite the fact that he was registered with Colorado’s Medical Marijuana Registry program. Since then, Nord has been in court fighting to get his medicine back.” (02/29/04)

This from Rational Review.

While over at Dean’s, he reports that Kerry supports medical cannabis. Not enough of a reason to vote for him, but encouraing, nonetheless. The post has gotten the requisite knuckle-dragging response. (Its just stoners trying to get around the law.)

Pres. Bush cannot win, can he!

March 01st, 2004 | Category: Politics

Well, at least with the left he surely can’t. They chided him for over-throwing Saddam and the Taliban, yet when he does nothing about Haiti, they complain. I don’t really see why the US should care about Haiti and hope that any help Bush gives is an absolute minimum.

Needless to say, there are murmurings from some that the rebels conducted a “US-backed coup” of a democratically elected leader. I suspect they will get louder very soon.

Crosstown Traffic

March 01st, 2004 | Category: Technology

This is kind of neat, in a geeky way. It’s a traffic simulator that allows you to model things like ring roads, on-ramps, etc., while controlling for variables like traffic lights, ramp inflow, composition (cars/truck ratio), speed limits, delta-B ramp (no, I have no idea what it means, either) and even a “politeness factor.”

In just a few minutes, you, too, can create massive, paralyzing gridlock.

At least, that’s what I did with it.
