Hrm, this might explain a great deal

Colby outs himself as a Venom fan. A band that were so bad they were bloody brilliant. The sad thing is that quite a few people were inspired to form bands after listening to Venom; many of them actually took the band seriously.

Of course, we all know why Colby likes em’, because Cronos used to wear a hockey mask.

(I have no room to talk. I am currently listening to a live Wishbone Ash dvd to review and rather enjoying it. Plus, my band’s first complete song sounds like it’s either “new country” or Poco-esque AOR.)

I find it interesting that you would reduce 35 years of extensive and varied musical talent as a country rock jam band, but listen to crap like Venom. Also, FYI, the Dead had their own record company, Round Records. So I guess they really were recording to please their record company, i.e., themselves. Actually, I know of few bands so devoted to their fan base as the Dead were. I’m afraid you know not whereof you speak, Andrew.

Wait, what are you on about? I said Venom were so bad, that does not denote a positive opinion of them. The last time I listened to Venom was in the 80s. What is wrong my description of the Dead? I mean they were famous for the long-winded extended jams at gigs. Are you denying this?

Or are you just a stonner dead-head who can’t take anyone talking about the Dead who is not one?

There are quite a few bands as devoted to their fans as the Dead. Just because you don’t know about them does not mean they don’t exist.

I concede that you did say Venom was bad, but so bad that they were “bloody brilliant”. Mixed message. Yes, the Dead did long jams, but to state that they were “just a country rock jam band” sounds patently dismissive, you must admit. And I did say that the Dead were one of the most dedicated that I knew of. I didn’t say that they were the only dedicated band. I also didn’t direct my remarks about the Israeli ambassador in Stockholm at Andrea Harris either, but you guys chose to read more into that than I ever wrote as well. In fact, my remarks were directed at those critical of the ambassador’s actions at the art exhibit. Cheers, Di Kats Der Payats.

Bonfire of the Vanities – Week 35
It’s the burning time of the week – the time for the best of the worst of the best to surface amongst some rather stinky flames. Week 35. (Somebody get me a drumroll?) First, visit Red Wheelbarrow for some roasted chicken (mmmm) and, wow, some roasted …
