Anti-war loon(s) examined

December 14th, 2003 | Category: ROPMA

Damian has the latest bleatings of traitor George. If you feel the need to express your distaste to George personally, Damian has kindly provided his House of Commons email address.

Johann has linked to an interested article on how the left has lost its way.

For the first time in its history the Left has nothing to say to the victims of fascism.

And the left’s other buddies Hamas had this to say recently:

“I swear to Allah that not one Jew will remain on our land of Palestine,” the movement’s political leader in the Palestinian territories, Abdelaziz Rantissi, told the swelling crowd.

Harry’s place has the goods on their latest carry & sharing outbursts.

The anti-war left/Deanies are rather upset with Saddam’s capture. Michele has links to both sides including jubilant Iraqi bloggers. Wonder what that cretin Salam Pax will have to say about this. Joe has a nice round-up as well. Oh and Atrios his commenters are having a fit.

A few people are less than pleased over at the BBC forums, including this classic:

I’m a bit sad that it puts an end to this battle of David against Goliath. We must acknowledge that Saddam Hussein is a cunning, if not a talented leader. He may look defeated, tired, dejected but when you think of all the means deployed to get rid of him, it’s just a tremendous achievement to have been able to survive.

Bernard Franck Dehlinger, Ris-Orangis, France (Thanks to Telemachus for the link.) Merde in France has more on the French reaction to events in Iraq.

As this news is being confirmed with each passing minute, the news annoncer on TF1">LCI looks like he’s in mourning.

It seems the French are lashing out at whomever they can. One wonders what Chirac will be like once the truth about France and Saddam are fully exposed. He has done so well at the EU conference either.

For a real laugh, check out this bit of intelligence from a Lib Dem.

Chris has a bit more leftie and Islamokazi bleating, just in case you needed some more. For good measure TLB has a question for the anti-war left. Wonder if any of them will have the courage to answer him.

Eye on the Left has nice selection of left-loon reaction.

NB: Trust me to go out and hit three Xmas parties last night and get home at 4am. Got up at 2pm to hear the news about Saddam’s capture. Fortunately JFM blogged something already.

New Labour is dead

December 14th, 2003 | Category: UK Politics

And Stephen Pollard bemoans its passing in a wonderful piece for today’s Sunday Telegraph. He ends with these few lines.

New Labour, as we now know, never existed as more than the hope of a few deluded Blairites. Tony, weve lost.

I never really believed that New Labour actually existed as a proper entity. It was fairly obvious that the forces of old Labour were just biding their time before there were to re-emerge.

How To Offend 300,000 Pagans In A Day’s Work
DANIEL RUTH
Published: Dec 12, 2003

When he signed on as director of the White House Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, Jim Towey probably figured the only job hazard he faced was having to delouse every time he was around Jerry Falwell. Instead, in a pinch of toil and trouble, the mild-mannered Towey managed to alienate the entire infidel community. And, no, we’re not talking about the ACLU.

One can only imagine the conversation as Towey arrived home after a hard day of hallelujahs.

``Hi, dear, how was your day?’’

``Well, I managed to infuriate 300,000 pagans.’’

``That’s nice, honey. Some communion wine?’’

``Make it a double.’’

A GREAT Day For Iraqis!

December 14th, 2003 | Category: Middle East

With a brief statement by Amb. Paul Bremer in Baghdad: “Ladies and gentlemen: We got him!”, the world was informed that Saddam Hussein had been captured. What was especially pleasing was to see the cheers erupt from the press corps, as they normally demonstrate a distinct unwillingness to be pleased by good news about the Coalition efforts. Iraqis in the streets were celebrating, too.

Street Fightin’ Man

December 14th, 2003 | Category: Stuff

I linked to the Insultingly Stupid Movie Physics website a few days ago and The Meatriarchy picked up on it and added his own extensive thoughts (permalink isn’t working, so scroll down the page about halfway) on fighting in movies.

Well worth reading — I intuitively suspected much of it, but I’m not one with a lot of experience fighting (remind me to tell you about my one-and-only fight sometime), so it’s nice to get the opinion of someone with martial-arts experience.

In fact he should consider sending it to the folks who run the ISMP website, as I don’t think they really addressed the subject.
