Greek far-left riot and commit terrorist attacks in support of N17
“Anarchist groups protesting convictions of members of Greece’s November 17 terrorist group demonstrated in downtown Athens on Thursday and claimed responsibility for overnight firebomb attacks. About 250 mostly young people, some wearing hoods and wielding wooden bats, chanted ‘Freedom for the November 17 fighters’ and ‘the desire from freedom is stronger than any prison cell,’ as hundreds of riot police watched. ... Also Thursday, two anarchist groups claimed responsibility for firebomb attacks that damaged the home of a senior Athens judge and destroyed a car with U.S. license plates, to express solidarity with convicted Greek terrorists.” (12/12/03)

“A Northern California artist is standing by his award-winning drawing blaming President Bush for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks — even after it was labeled ‘hate speech’ and pulled from an exhibit over ‘insurance issues.’ ... Chuck Bowden’s drawing, ‘The Tactics of Tyrants Are Always Transparent,’ won second place in the Redwood Art Association’s annual fall exhibit …. In the 11-inch-by-14-inch drawing, a crown and halo-topped Bush stands on a grave, his hand dripping with blood as bodies fall to the ground from the World Trade Center towers in the distance. ... the work upset at least one sponsor, who rescinded $300 in prize money for Bowden’s piece and called the work ‘hate speech.’” (12/12/03)

“Two North Carolina men have been indicted in what prosecutors said are the nation’s first felony charges related to unsolicited e-mail. The men are accused of violating Virginia’s junk e-mail law by sending thousands of e-mail pitches for investments, software and other products. Jeremy Jaynes, 29, and Richard Rutowski each face four felony counts of transmission of unsolicited bulk electronic mail, Virginia Attorney General Jerry Kilgore said yesterday.” (12/12/03)

A student told a teacher at Parkview High School in Bossier City, La., that sophomore Amanda Stiles was smoking in the bathroom. The teacher confronted Stiles and searched her purse, but found no cigarettes or lighters. She did, however, find something else: Advil, an over-the-counter medication used to relieve headaches and menstrual cramps. “Pills!” screamed the school administrators. Possessing drugs on campus is a “zero tolerance” infraction, they point out, so they expelled Stiles for a year. The expulsion was upheld by the School Board’s administrative committee and Superintendent Ken Kruithof. (Shreveport Times) ...Thus perpetuating their smug satisfaction that they’re “doing something” about the “drug problem.”
