Of course Blunkett never jumped the queue! Well, perhaps the presence of 4 bodyguards might have helped a little.

Microsoft fires worker over weblog

December 02nd, 2003 | Category: Stuff

Many people post work-related entries on personal blogs, but they don’t expect to be terminated

By TODD BISHOP
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER

Michael Hanscom began keeping an online journal, commonly known as a weblog, several years ago. He started his job as a contract worker in Microsoft’s print shop last year. Last week, he mixed the two.

This week, he’s looking for a new job, after becoming an unwilling case study in the fine line walked by corporate employees who write about work in their personal weblogs.

It all started when Hanscom noticed something interesting on the loading dock on his way into work a week ago — three pallets of shiny new Apple Power Mac G5 computers, clearly destined for somewhere on the company’s Redmond campus.

Protocols of the Elders of Zion in Eqypt

December 02nd, 2003 | Category: Anti-Semitism/Jewery

The ROPMA idiot who runs the museum has played a copy of this fraud next to the Torah in a display on Judiasm.

“Perhaps this book of the ‘Protocols of the Elders of Zion’ is more important to the Zionist Jews of the world than the Torah, because they conduct Zionist life according to it… It is only natural to place the book in the framework of an exhibit of Torah [scrolls].”

Who funded the library run by this anti-semitic fool? Why an arm of the UN, of course.

It seems Blair used the President’s visit for some useful discussions. Rather unfortunate that Bush put them on in the first place.

Le Carre has gone ga-ga

December 02nd, 2003 | Category: Anti-Semitism/Jewery

John Le Carre has totally lost it and is rightly fisked by both Daniel Johnson and by Melanie Phillips. Oh yes, and for good measure, he proves himself to be an anti-semite too.

Kamm on Liberal Appeasement

December 02nd, 2003 | Category: Politics

Oliver has written an extended piece trouncing the Liberals for their appeasement of Hitler in the ‘30s. This is in response to James Graham’s protestations to the contary. Oddly enough the Liberal Democrats are behaving just the same today.

Internet tax fax

December 02nd, 2003 | Category: Technology

The Internet tax debate is filled with misperceptions, rhetoric, and even a bit of old-fashioned betrayal. Perhaps the greatest misperception is that the Internet isnt taxed at all. Its easy to see how folks could get confused, given that Congress keeps talking about renewing the ‘Internet tax moratorium.’ But the moratorium isnt a ban on sales taxes on the Internet. Its a ban on discriminatory taxes, such as Internet access taxes, which erect barriers to low-income people getting online.” (11/03)

Beware of the drunken louts…of the elk variety

December 02nd, 2003 | Category: Nutty stuff

Swedish authorities are warning citizens to be on the look out for berry-intoxicated elks. ... Experts say the animals are likely to get even more aggressive as they feast on the last of the summer berries which have fermented into potent alcoholic fruit. ... ‘Some elks get very calm but others very aggressive after they’ve had alcoholic fruit, just like humans.’” (11/28/03)

Bust the really sick guy, he can’t run too fast

December 02nd, 2003 | Category: Drugs

High times were had by some yesterday as Montreal’s first marijuana cafe opened its doors, less than a block away from a police station.
Several police officers squeezed into Chez Marijane and arrested two men who were holding joints, said Hugo St-Onge, president of the Bloc Pot party. ‘To tell you the truth, I’m surprised,’ St-Onge said from the police station, where he was helping the two men, aged 26 and 51. ‘It’s a waste of their time, a waste of money. But it’s simple possession and it’s illegal.’ One of the men arrested has multiple sclerosis, he said.” (11/30/03)

Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll, please!

December 02nd, 2003 | Category: Metal

Sex, drugs, and rock & roll: a libertarian view

The religious and the straight-laced in the world have always looked upon rock & roll as a shining example of libertinism. I would posit that, on the contrary, rock & roll, more specifically, hard rock and heavy metal, are libertarianism in action.

The hard rock scene and some of its side-genres are a good indicator of how open the young populace would be to libertarian ideals and ideas. It appears that if most of youth are concerned with sex, drugs, and rock & roll (henceforth referred to as SDR&R), then there is a good chance your country is doing well.
