BestofMe Symphony launched
This sounds like a cracking idea. Guess that means we finally have to get the Dodgeblog et al. archives working…sigh.
I’d like to ask for your help in launching my new meme, the BestofMe Symphony.
It is built along the lines of the Carnival of the Vanities but deals with past content instead of current or near current content. With the constant flux of new bloggers and new readers there are always going to be people who weren’t around for the great posts we’ve written in the past. In addition, we’ve all had good stuff that went largely unnoticed because it was posted during slow blog times, the early days of our blogs when we didn’t have an audience or because there was something big going on in the world at large that left non-topical posts largely ignored.
The Bestofme Symphony will help to resurrect these jewels from the past. The
basic criteria for submission is that the post must have been originally
published at least two months ago and the submitter must feel that it is some of the best work from that blog. The submitter doesn’t need to be the author so a person can submit a favorite or meaningful post from another blog and readers without their own blogs may also contribute.
I would greatly appreciate it if you would help me get the word out by linking to the above post. You could write up your own referring post or use the suggested post down there below my signature. See how easy I make things? Damn, I’m smooth.
I’d also like to ask you to contribute to the Bestofme Symphony by submitting one of your own jems or a favorite from another blog.

I don’t know if he was being racist (but really, why not toss it into the trunk?) or not, but this conjures up a hilarious mental image:
A police officer in Portland, Ore. is facing an internal review investigation for lashing a stuffed gorilla to the front grill of his cruiser, reports the Oregonian. The move was decried as racist.
The gorilla belonged to a drunk the officers had arrested earlier one evening. Because it reeked of urine and vomit, the officer said, he decided not to carry it in the car but instead on the outside of the car.
Later in the evening, the officer answered a call at a hip-hop bar. The mostly African-American crowd at the bar were shocked by the police officers insensitivity and offensive display of deep-rooted racism.
