Teresa May is out of her tiny little mind
Teresa May has given an interview to the Times where she whinges for her sex. This vomit inducing interview includes a strident defense of CCO.
It is grossly unfair. Central Office constantly gets attacked when things go wrong and is perceived as the bad guy, whatever happens. It has really good staff who must feel very sad reading things in the papers based on whispered conversations
Ah poor CCO, obviously we now know that they are the victim in all of this. It was not senior staff that were briefing any press they could find at Conf about the fact IDS was “toast”. It isn’t CCO that have repeatedly rude to their biggest donors and not taken their calls. And, of course, no member of CCO ever briefs against any member of the party or tries to blackball anyone.
Jasper Gerrad ends with this observation.
May is mainly good news, but she does share the modern Tory petit bourgeois distrust of the great unwashed. Unless Tories rediscover their populist appeal they will remain on the shelf, addicted only to losing.
He refers to her as a back-up singer. Surely the whole point of being a back-up singer is for them to sing in tune with the lead?

1 commentSteyn on Bush’s visit
Steyn fisks the terrorist supporting arsehats who are going to riot next week. His best line is:
Instead, it is the explosive European street that remains implacably pro-Saddam, pro-Yasser, pro-jihad, pro-Taliban misogynist homophobes, pro-anyone as long as they are anti-American.
Rather says it all, does it not?

“When debating the pros and cons of smoking bans, we need to ask whether it makes sense to protect and defend private individuals’ rights to their property. If we agree that private property rights should be protected, then we should make a clear distinction between private property and public property. ... Those who favor smoking bans prefer to consider bars and restaurants to be public property simply because the public is invited to visit those establishments. However, opponents of smoking bans recognize that the invitations to the public are by the graces of the private owners, and the property remains private property.” (11/13/03)

“What started out as a bake sale now has the [William & Mary] College community up in arms in a new debate on the ever-current issue of cultural diversity on campus. The controversy stems from the new student organization, the Sons of Liberty, and their anti-affirmative action bake sale that occurred last Saturday and sold cookies and brownies to students at different prices based on race. ... The Sons of Liberty are a new libertarian student organization, unaffiliated with any national organization, whose goal is to promote the ideas of the libertarian party and to focus on returning the government exclusively to its Constitutional roots.” (11/13/03)

Harry has a few pics up from his mini-blogger confab in East London. It was well worth attending; both for the company and the damn good beer on hand. Well done to Harry for such a nice event.
