Carnival of Censors
The new Carnival of the Vanities is up, but not without some controversy. It seems the current host has not really got into the spirit of the entire endeavor.
He has left out things that he finds offensive:
That was a personal call based on the nature of your post. I do apologize if you feel slighted, but it was just my preference not to add that one particular post.
-Max
He has made uncalled for remarks about others, like for instance our entry.
Complete with pictures we didn’t need to see, Andrew Ian Dodge weighs in on defining metrosexuality.
Um, was that entirely necessary, Max? It was one picture; I was not nude or anything. Do you have something against long hair or champagne? Or is it personal against me?
In short, Max, the host of the current CoV, is a bit of an arse. You should realise this before heading over there this week. If you feel that he has erred in his behaviour, he has a comments section for your thoughts.
Let’s hope that the host next week, Peaktalk, is a bit more into the spirit of things.
Update: Jackie has pointed out that Max links to Wizbang, which currently hosts links to the Paris Hilton porn video.
Update: Max attempts to defend his behaviour, or, rather, justify it. In short: it’s his blog, and if you don’t like being omitted, tough tamales.
This from Max to me.
Andrew,
Can you excuse for the comment about your picture? I thought it was in good fun; clearly it wasn’t, and I’m really very sorry about that. Yet another controversy I didn’t intend on causing. It will be removed. As for your comments on the Jim thing, I’ll respond in my comments to those.
Max
My response:
Fair enough, thanks for the apology. A few other people agreed with my take. I didn’t want to think I was being a bit unkind. As with all those things, it down to the wording. (TRUST ME I have erred in the same way!).
Rockgards,
Andrew
The creator of the Carnival of Vanities has stated his opinion on the row. I believe he has made it rather clear that censorship will not be tolerated in CoV. Kudos to him for his principled stand on the issue.
Incidentally, I am proud to link to the censored post. Jim has gotten quite a bit of support for all sections of blogdom on his slight.

Is this a common practice for blogs that host the Carnival? I’ll admit, I rarely check in on it, but this is the first I’ve heard of someone omitting something on purpose. What’s the point otherwise?
Go to snoozebutton and look in the comments – BigWig – who owns the CotV – pretty much sides with Jim. As do I.
