A Silencing Of the Right?
I had a really interesting conversation with Dr. Beichman over at Hoover about the silencing of the Right’s right to protest in relation to the CBS Reagan documentary. It does seem to be that there’s a tad of a double standard. Jesse Jackson can boycot corporations to shake them down for money and he’s called a leader. Meanwhile, if there’s a proposal for boycott by the Right, it’s censorship. Of course, I should have some sympathy for James Brolin, he is married to Barbara Streisand afterall

Apparently, Pearl Jam was right. You can rock for the free world, at least according to the Hungarian Ambassador to the U.S., who says that Rock freed his country. Read about it here.

Me ole’ mucker David challenged me (via his blog) to take this test and I scored a 90. And my “wrong” answers were the Chicago school approach. Its a great quiz, but be warned it requires a decent amount of thought.
1 commentTo be a man row update
The debate continues apace over at Mike’s. Needless to say, the Kim and Co have resorted to name calling and ridiculous assertions to miss our/my points. The knuckle dragging “manly” brigade has gotten so nasty that Michele had to shut down her comments on her post on the subject.
Andrea expresses her concern that at least three bloggers have failed to spot the sarcasm in Glenn’s post on the row.
Ben has cast his critical eye on Kim’s bleat on his own blog. As per normal for Mr Kepple, it is a well thought out and interesting critique on Kim’s points. Ben makes a point I have been wondering about in the last few days. How is it manly to whinge about the state of affairs for men in the US? Surely men are being pussified because they let themselves have this happen to them. Surely it’s men who are to blame for this process? Isn’t Kim’s bleat a classic example of the abdication of responsibility and a part of the victim culture we libertarians so deride?

Samizdata has a shot of the mass detention of school-children at a High School in South Carolina. My contempt for that Principal responsible knows no bounds.

When UK officials plead with the French not to hold a referendum on the proposed European Constitution, then there must be something dreadfully wrong with that document. One must wonder how bad it really is in terms of the harm to Britain’s sovereignty.
It’s no longer a case of The State is not your friend ; The State has become The Enemy !

Alaa, The Messopotamian, has a wonderful slogan: To bring one more Iraqi Voice of the Silent Majority to the Attention of the World. This is more than amply demonstrated with this great post. If only his words could reach someone with the power to do as he suggests, there would be a tremendous leap forward in bringing about the installation of democratic institutions in Iraq in a hurry.
Does anyone in our readership have the kind of high-level contact needed to accomplish this? Please, someone must take this and spread it around where it will do some good.
