Big Points in First Rugby World Cup Games

October 11th, 2003 | Category: Nutty stuff

Here it is sports fans, what youve been hanging out for the first round of results from the Rugby World Cup.

After five games there are four teams leading after getting a bonus point for creaming their first round opposition.

Ireland, France, South Africa & New Zealand are all at the top of their pools with 5 points each with Australia having had a pretty ordinary 24-16 game against Argentina sits in solitary splendour at second place with 4 points.

The lucky winners of the hardest game first draw were Romania in pool A who went down to Ireland 17-45. Fiji from pool B whos poor discipline on the field allowed France to punt them about in a 61-18 pounding. From pool C South Africa showed Uruguay the door with the biggest points difference thrashing them 72-6, but then Uruguay has never really been noted as a great rugby nation. And for pool D, in a wop sided game the Kiwis pulled an Italian job with a 70-7 runaway over the Italians.

Coming up, game 10 will be an opportunity for one of the 20 teams to achieve a goal when USA and Japan go head to head, both with the intention of getting their first win a World Cup.

Young Tories doing their best for the party’s reputation…

October 11th, 2003 | Category: UK Politics

Nothing warms the heart of the voter more than seeing two Tory researchers arrested for gay bashing (the physical kind). The two, who worked for senior Conservative MPs and one of whom is a Tory councillor, have a court date set for next month; they are both on bail.

The victim, Chris Carter, late of ASI, worked for the British Property Association. He is also an acquaintance of both Frank and myself. We are both exceedingly outraged by this development. I am sure anyone attending the ASI’s Next Generation evenings will be similarly horrified.

Let’s hope the party makes a move to boot these two cretins out of the party immediately.

YFFE demo

October 11th, 2003 | Category: Politics

From: YFFE

Today’s mini-demo against the Institute for Citizenship and Foreign Office’s attempt to propagandise about the EU to students went very well.

With just a few activists outside we were able to ensure that everyone who went in got a YFFE leaflet, specially prepared for the day…including Europe Minister Denis MacShane. He wasn’t best pleased! :~)

A YFFE activist even managed to smooth-talk his way into the meeting…this despite our being told on Friday in conversations with the Institute for Citizenship that it was too late to get in, because of ‘security’. Hmmm….

Such was our hijacking of the event – literally everyone there having copies of the leaflet – that the organisers were forced to confront our points.

Chairman (and President of the Institute for Citizenship) David Dimbleby stood up at the start, copy of our leaflet in hand, and admitted that the meeting was one-sided….and said that *he* was going to be the opposition! If Dimbleby was forced to admit the bias, let’s hope he exerts his influence as IfC President, to ensure all sides of the argument are properly represented at their events in the future. We will be writing to him to seek his personal reassurance on this point and will let the list know what he says.

Later, our YFFE agent jumped in with a critical attack at the start of questions and set the agenda for much EU-criticism from subsequent questioners. The whole thing must’ve driven sneering Denis MacShane absolutely barmy!

Full report from ‘our man on the inside’ plus details of follow up letters coming in due course. If anyone wants to see the leaflet, let me know.

cheers,
Stuart

Eat the Pound

Pretend you are Tony Blair trying to eat the pound. This is a cute anti-Euro version of pac-man hosted by the Bruges Group.

Black leaders ensure Ghettopoly will be a big hit

October 11th, 2003 | Category: Politics

Black leaders are outraged over a new board game called ‘Ghettopoly’ that has ‘playas’ acting like pimps and game cards reading, ‘You got yo whole neighborhood addicted to crack. Collect $50.’ Black clergymen say the game, the brainchild of a Pennslvania man, should be banned, and have called for a boycott of Urban Outfitters unless the company stops selling Ghettopoly in its chain of clothing stores. Urban Outfitters has not publicly commented on the issue, and did not return a call seeking comment on Wednesday.” (10/09/03)

Via: Rational Review

Alas the losers at Urban Outfitters are no longer selling the game. What a bunch of corporate cowards.

Canada fast-tracks pro-pot bill

October 11th, 2003 | Category: Drugs

The [Canada] federal government is fast-tracking its plan to decriminalize marijuana, but the controversial bill will get a major makeover in a bid to win over staunch opponents. Justice Minister Martin Cauchon said the pot bill — which decriminalizes 15 grams of weed but imposes stiffer penalties on traffickers and large growing operations — is being hurried because it’s among government priorities that are ‘key to society.’”(10/09/03)

Rational Review dug up this interesting piece of news.

Steyn on Arnie’s win

October 11th, 2003 | Category: Politics

To be more accurate Steyn lambastes the snotty left who are bleating about his win. I mean what do the French think, that Arnie is going to take the California national guard and invade France? Do they think he wants a greater California to be combined with Austria? Needless to say the BBC reported the celebrations on the streets of Austria, when they could be bothered, with abject horror.

The left really need to stop searching for the next Hitler and worry more about looking for the next Osama Bin Liner. The French, of course, will have invited him into their country and set up in a nice pad where he can plan his next atrocity.
