On behalf of the Dodgeblogium, I would like to thank JFM for her efforts on this week’s Carnival of the Vanities. She took my warped ideas and turned them into something pretty nifty.
I would like to announce that Steve of Scrofula fame has agreed to bring his distinct sense of humour into our midst.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to be part of the Dodgeblogium team, please email JFM [ jfm1612 – [ at ] neaccess [ dot ] net ].

Read this and weep for Venezuelans.
Liberty and democracy in Venezuela are crumbling under the dictatorial leadership of Hugo Chavez. Venezuela, the worlds fifth largest oil exporter, has an unemployment rate nearing 21 percent. The government monopolizes and mismanages the countrys most valuable natural resource …”(10/01/03)

High-end computer maker Silicon Graphics Incorporated is in line tobecome the next target of Linux opponent SCO Group, with the controversial software seller threatening to revoke SGI’s Unix licence. SGI revealed the expected move in a regulatory document filed earlier this week with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing included a statement detailing the company’s plans to revoke SGI’s licence to distribute products based on Unix code that SCO controls. The move would mirror similar actions that SCO took earlier this year against computing giant IBM, SCO’s main opponent in its legal battle against the open-source Linux operating system.” (10/02/03)
SGO seems to be aiming to f***-off Unix and Linux users worldwide. There are an awful lot of them, is this move really that wise? They are a loyal lot as well, they make Mac users seem mild-mannered.
SGI is widely respected and very well known and SGO is only known in infamy. Will anyone at all take SGO’s side? Let’s hope SGI manages to lance the boil that is SGO.

Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., the top corporate player in Missouri politics, is no longer backing Gov. Bob Holden — in large part because of their differences over concealed weapons. Republican and Democratic sources say the brewery’s decision not to support the governor’s re-election next year is highly unusual in light of its long-standing reputation as a donor which gives generously to both parties and their candidates, regardless of their views. Before Holden vetoed the bill last summer, sources say, a brewery lobbyist showed up at the governor’s office to tell him that such action would end the long-standing support he’d enjoyed from Anheuser-Busch and its executives.” (10/01/03)
This bit of corporate courage was found by the good folks at Rational Review. Granted they no doubt did this for fear of annoying the swill drinking rednecks that like their product, but so what? A&B did the right thing in the end.

Damn. Didn’t even buy anything for myself. (Not quite true — I did buy beer.)
I will repair this oversight tomorrow. I have decided on a Mad Catz steering wheel for my Xbox and maybe a game or two.
Working on the piece I’ll post tomorrow. Then I think I’ll take a couple of days off. I haven’t bothered to count, but this is probably the longest stretch of daily bloggage I’ve yet accomplished. And it’s accomplished bloggage, too.
Or accloggage, as I refer to it.
On second thought, maybe not. It sounds like some kind of intestinal obstruction.
