Ralph Peters has published an interesting piece on Islam in Parameters. It is well worth reading. Link thanks to Vodkapundit.

Fundies don’t like Harry Potter, we all know. But did you know how much? Ferag NicBhrde has written a great expose of their paranoid fantasies in the most recent issue of Pagan Prattle.
This is particularily funny, while being worrying at the same time.
“These Harry Potter books are right on time in the end time scenario” and warns “If you are a Christian and these words offend you, it is probably because your mind has been seduced by a devil” and not because they’re a heap of paranoid shite – got that?”Not all Christians are paronoid nuts, there is even debunking of some of the loonies claims. On one such site:
“I am convinced that the accusations and warnings are baseless. I have studied the arguments presented on various websites. In my opinion, the Anti-Potterists display various degrees of ignorance, bad logics, superstitious fear, and unfounded conspiracy theories”.Quite.
Go read the whole thing; it is well worth a read and a chuckle.

Tip to you damn infidels: convert to Islam ASAP and we might not blow the shit out of you. So says the caring and sharing face of Islam in Indonesia, one Abu Bakar Bashir. Oh, and it gets even better. He said this to the families of those killed: “My message to the families is please convert to Islam as soon as possible.”
Surely there is some angry Aussie merc out there ready to wack this scumbag?

A Smile From The Den….....
Thanks to the heads-up from Natalie, Dodgeblogium is pleased to make note that the hibernating CrozierVision has risen from its slumbers and is now, once again, actively contributing to The Blogdom. Of particular note are some tidbits [non-transport category] of Patrick’s recent journey to Japan.

Ms Sylvester has written an excellent threat assesment piece in today’s Telegraph. She points out that all the rules have changed, as well as detailing a new breakdown of the nation state by someone working for the EU. (But I thought the nation state was dead, according to the EU?) It is interesting that via the globlisation of terrorism and the inability of the state to deal with it and major crime, anarcho-capitalists are seeing their dreams coming closer to true.
There will be “global protection” companies that specialise in protecting companies and their employees, wherever they are, as local police forces become incapable of doing the job. Soon might we see company “compounds” in the US and Europe, as we do in the 3rd world? Will a perk of being an empoyee be company-provided security and protection? Will this perk that one gets in the 3rd world become the norm in the 1st world as well? Will companies now, as Daimler-Chrysler has, buy airliners to carry their employees across the world? Cyberpunk angstian fantasies or our future? Bin Liner, Al Queda, and the DC sniper are the ones pushing this towards reality, not us.

Sasha comments about a Goldberg article on how the various entities on the left can hurt the genuine “anti-war movement.”
One other thing that might help the anti-war lot is a new slogan. Am I am the only who thinks that these clever clots (mostly alleged “students”) could somehow come up with somthing better than “What do we want? ___ When do we want it now? Now!” I mean, this was old in the late 70s; surely they can do better? Someone needs to write a new “universal slogan” for the antis. Occasionally they have something interesting to say, but hearing tired old slogans gets on my nerves. Could we have some former spin doctors put their talents toward this task? How about it, Amanda? The Tories aren’t too fond of you these days; might as well do some community service.

A drug dealer burns down the house of anti-drug crusader Angela Dawson, killing her and her five children. Her husband managed to leap out a second floor window. He’s still unconscious with bad burns over 50% of his body. Do yourself a favor and read the article. If this had been a made for TV movie, all would have gotten out alive. Instead, it’s just another example of how the good suffer and the bad flourish. I hope the judge gives the murderer the stiffest sentence possible.
In a made for TV movie the neighborhood would rally and follow her example and report all the drug dealers, showing that they are not cowed by the evil actions of the pusher. In the real world, I fear that the reaction will be more like the one of the elementary school principal quoted in the article.
Residents here vowed not to be intimidated by what happened. But reality is different. But who can blame them? In the real world, dead is dead. And waking up to find your whole family gone because your wife did a good, brave and noble thing – is unimaginably horrible. How do we solve this problem? More police? More citizen involvement to watch and protect neighbors at risk? Comments are off for this post“Who’s going to squeal now?” said Lucretia Coates, the principal of the Dr. Bernard Harris Elementary School, which four of the Dawson children attended. “I got four little desks empty in my school. Why wouldn’t that intimidate you?”

You are a liberal airhead.
Make that classical liberal there, mate, and you got me in one. Not really an airhead, though.
Thanks to the Layman for the link.
