Whacking Day lays into a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion. That is fair enough, but his comments on the stunning Page/Plant No Quarter are absolute codswallop!. I have enjoyed repeated listens of this eastern-tinged live album which contains a truely awesome version of ‘Kashmir’. Ignore this philistine and find the album post haste. And yes, I liked Walking to Clarkesdale as well; merely being a rather bluesy album does not make it boring. If you want a boring Led Zep album, look no further than the live album/movie Song Remains the Same or their atrocious post-breakup album Presence. However, credit where due, WD does like the underrated masterpiece that is Coverdale/Page, an album that just gets better with time. I have always adored/admired/coveted Coverdale’s voice…the bloke has a range I can only dream of having. Plant’s solo albums, other than the last one, are patchy at best; I always have a soft spot for the Honeydrippers project, although Page’s post Zeppelin stuff has always been better.
