Odd info junkies, Pagan Prattle have a whole bunch of interesting new stories, including one about odd theories on the DC Sniper. I want to see a map of the locations, because I think he might be drawing some symbol with his attacks. A Christian group seems to think its a broken cross, a symbol satanists use to symbolise the downfall of Christianity. These are the first of many such theories that will arise; it will be interesting to see which one is on the mark. Me, I figure he is going for a upside-down pentagram.

The Captain and others report on the fact that Alabama has overturned a ruling banning sex toys. Nice to see that someone thinks the state should stay the hell out of the bedroom! I mean what kind of moron came up with this legislation? No doubt the same type of busy-body that feels the need to restrict what people may read, watch, and do in their homes. These evangelical fascists are no better than the Politically-Correct neo-marxists. What possible reason could any sane person think of for banning sex toys? It boggles the mind.

MommaBear found the perfect encapsulation of her own reaction to the “winning” of the Nobel Peace(?) Prize by Jimmuh Cahtah!!

She sees no need to add one word.

I’m beginning to loathe this bloke, Steyn. It is no wonder why he gets to write for some of the best publications in the world. His stuff is always top drawer, one of my favourite columnists.

Anyway, go read his amusing take on the modernisers vs traditionalists battle in the Tory Party. This is, of course, a silly description of the situation in the party. The expression “modernisers” suggests that all those on the other side wish no change. What the modernisers actually want is to turn the party into a centrist entity, throwing out all aspects of conservatism. This lot are no more libertarian than Blair. The modernisers have a few issues that libertarians agree with, like the abandonment of Clause 28 and legalisation of cannabis.

The latter is an issue they would probably quickly abandon if they came into control of the party. After all, cuddly gay men (especially the besuited Tory variety) are much easier to show off than a bunch of stoners, even though in electoral numbers there are far more people who have a toke every now and then, than are gay. There is a belief amoung political elites that cannabis users are not the type to vote while homosexuals are highly poliical.

For another blogger’s vision of the Tory Party Conference, please visit Conservative Commentary. It makes interesting reading; I suspect he spent less time in the bar(s) than I did, so it’s a more, um sober viewpoint.

PS: Sorry for the aborted post below, Pro Blogger is being a pain in the arse again. So what else is new?

[Update: it appears that there is some sort of technical delay

to the posting on that site – you will be advised when it becomes available and advised of the proper linkage at that time]
