A Special Despatch From The Conf
by Andrew Ian Dodge
I spoke with an old drinking buddy of mine, today, Gawain Towler, who is also the editor of the The Sprout. They have a new issue out, and it’s even better than the last. He and his colleagues have seriously put the wind up the Commission, and he expects his url to be banned any minute. It seems there are those in the EU that are not happy with the satirical content of the blog. In fact, it seems someone in the EU decided to hack the site and change the outcome of the poll on EU reform. What is it about the ‘right to free speech’ in the EU? Oh yes, it exists as long as you dont dare to criticise your glorious leaders!
Oh yes, and the old rogue is married: to a socialist. I guess it will soon be time for me to hang up my spurs and settle down with a good woman. It seems to be all the rage with my rakish friends to get hitched. It had to end sooner or later; we have to leave some sex, drugs, and rock & roll for the next lot!
He personally thanked me for all my readers who went to his site, 30 or so of you at last count. Remember, every time you give them a hit you piss off the EU! So go hit The Sprout and spread the word.

A Note From The Editor’s Desk….....
There is an important addition to a prior posting which will clarify a statement concerning a particular individual; The Editor would recommend that you take the care to read it.

A Tory Conference Posting
by Andrew Ian Dodge
Owing to the fact that Conservatives are stingy with their provisions for the press, I am having to write my updates at a small internet cafe in the Conf centre. It is a bit of a push, as there are people waiting, but you, my dear readers, deserve better.
The mood at the Conf and at the Conf hotel last night was upbeat, if resigned. IDS is not long for his position unless he pulls a ring out of the hat in the next few days. The Wets are talking open rebellion, and it looks as if Clarke is going to try for the leadership again. In discussions with everyone but the hardest-line left-wingers, it seems that David Davis is the man. He is openly talked about as the next leader. The reason he is the chosen one, or doomed one, depending on the view of it all, is for all the reasons he was removed as Chairman of the Party. He is clever, intelligent, and excites the masses again. He will no doubt clarify all positions that are left wanting with his particular leadership. IDS is the Bob Dole of Tory Politics. A decent man who has done a lot for the country but is not capable of being the leader of a party or the PM. He, in his quest to be all things to all people, allowed those who would undermine him into his trusted positions.
We shall see how the day pans out, but the the masses are revolting. The king is dead, long live the king!
