An Approving Snarl From The Den….....

Now that The Sarge is back in full form, again, MommaBear must applaud both that fact and a post that articulates very well the fact that the United States has had enough of the pathetic, puerile posturing on the part of those who have always ended up needing our help.

Enough, already !

Dr Weevil lays in on the pseudonym debate. Some good points; I think they are a good idea even though I don’t use one for this blog.

This is precious: so-called “born-again virgins.” Isn’t that sort of like closing the bottle after letting the genie out, or would that be letting the genie in? Back in the 90’s there was a religious program of “born-again virgins” where they pledged before God to abstain from sex anymore before they were married. At least this new version is a bit saner. It seems that couples are resisting the temptation for weeks or months before they get married. Toby Harnden thinks it might so that the man gets the illusion (well if he has crap long-term memory) that his wife-to-be is “pure”. This is something I never really understood; I mean, its not like the wife-to-be is to be sacrificed.

Now one could be cynical, and say that is plot by the woman involved to concentrate the mind of her hubby to be on the task at hand. The woman involved would have to be pretty secure in her abilities for this trick to work. And furthermore, if the bloke is not getting his leg-over at all after getting it over some, would he not be more succeptable to the temptations found on most stag-nights? Surely if the bloke is all worn out from lots of shagging he would be less tempted?

Toby goes onto wonder about the rules of dating in the US. I still don’t understand them (who calls whom, when, etc.; what a load of bollocks. What idiot wrote the damn rules anyway?). He pines for the simpler UK version. Meet someone, take them out, add several pints/glasses/bottles and see what happens (repeat at will until success or boredom).

Antoine Clark has written a short screed against libertarians, like me, who feel it is better to work with a major party than piss about with no-hopers with no chance. This is not a new argument and one that I heard quite a bit at the Libertarian Convention (US) a few years ago. There are some people who are happier to jump up and down on the sidelines and make not a sausage of difference rather than making a difference by working within an electable party. Its a case of “pissing into the tent vs pissing out of the tent.” (An LBJism.)

I think it is a good idea to help candidates in the Tory Party who are closer to libertarian ideas that others. I never lend my efforts to anyone with whom I am not happy with their beliefs. There is not a Libertarian Party in the UK right now, and there won’t be one for a considerable time. The Libertarian Alliance, clever though it is, rarely gets any press for its ideas. Surely it is better for me and others like me to bend a few ears whenever possible. There are at least 3 copies of Statism Sucks! 2.0 kicking around in the party at high levels. There are some who think the transition to Thatcherism in the Tory Party occured at the snap of the Lady’s fingers. It was a long and hard road, and one we must continue until the party reaches “classical liberalism.”

There are significant numbers of “libertarian-conservatives” amoungst the younger set. (I don’t mean the Portillistas either, I mean real l-cs.) If libertarians (outside the party) had any brains they would engage this lot (as I continually try) tout suite, instead of whining; we might be able to influence the direction/policy of the party.

A new party would be a stupid idea, and one doomed to fail. One must wonder whether it’s the wets/wet-lights (CChange) who wish to rid the party of the libetarian element so they can have a straight fight betwixt them and the IDS right.
