Steyn shows his wit yet again in today’s Telegraph. He writes an extremely satirical piece on the goings on after hours at the Earth Summit. He tries to explain to all of us what our representatives are doing to spend all that money it is costing for the event.

There are many blog denisens that are worried that the approaching 9/11 anniversary is going to turn out to be full of vile and mawkish sentimentality rather than respect for the dead. If the song The Day America Died is anything to go by, it looks to be a pap-filled few days. Both Pejman and Mark Steyn voice their worry.

Mark is worried about the US “Dianafying” the 9/11 attacks. It is clear to see that the way Diana’s death was handled has had a latest affect on her memory. Even the twee tabloid journalists seem to have finally tired of wheeling her out, and a recent poll suggests Diana fatigue.

Alas, I think there is little doubt the Hollywierd lot and certain politicians are going to turn the day into a vomit-enducing twee-fest of epic proportions. Rebel against it: raise your wine glass to the victims, plant a tree, and even say a prayer for the fallen.

The only question to ask is why must these people be allowed into the UK? Does the government not know that this lot have links to Osama Bin Laden’s brand of Islamism? If so, is there any other way to prevent these comings and goings of those who wish us ill?

Was there some reason why they booked to Stanstead instead of Birmingham? Am I the only one finds this a bit suspect and worrying, a year on from last September?

As per normal, Kat says it better and more concisely. She is posting in response to the news that Bil Quick has joined the Blogging Network, a ghetto for those who wish us to pay more for their writing. Bill is not very happy with me for criticising his move. His responses to me are both rude and smack of inter-writer bitchiness. Still, despite the nastiness, some good points are being made in his comments section on both sides of the argument.

If you are 14 and you don’t want to be there, you should be able to sod off. Andrew Gimson seems to think this would be a good idea, and I have to agree. Why should knuckle-dragging destructive morons prevent others from learning? Either ministers should allow teachers to smack the stuffing out of these abusive (physical & verbal) louts, or they need to be able to get rid of them. The present situation means everyone else loses out.

No doubt the egalitarians will go apopletic over this one.

You know its going to be a good day when you wake up to this news! Al Jazeera is coming to my local cable company, NTL. It seems London’s terrorists and their supporters are a big enough demographic that it was worthwhile to provide them with this pay channel. Oh yes, they are launching on 16th of September; how sensitive they have left a whole 5 days after 9/11.

This is what I wrote to NTL’s complaint department:

News likes this, makes one wonder if there is really is a god. First that total wanker, Harold Pinter, survives cancer, then he gets a honour from the government. Where is Mossad when you need them? More incompetent reporting on the Kerrang Awards, this time from the BBC. Take a look at that gormless ninny, Leigh Mytton, who is reporting on it. No wonder no one talked to her; she looks like a band member’s mother, not a rock reporter.

This report makes sickening reading: not very rock & roll, now, is it? It looks as though channel 4 has forced them to sanitise it for their viewers. No drunken debauchery, no swearing, probably no booze or drugs. Only pretty boys & girls trying to show how nice and cuddly metal types really are: what a load of fucking PC bollocks! Who gives a shit about what people were wearing and Dave Grohl bringing his mother? It seems today’s mainstream rockers are as big a bunch of wimps as the pop lot.

I would like to apologise to my loyal readers for the series of annoyed posts of late that mention the word Kerrang. It is just that I had to disappoint a very special (and stunning) lady last night because some young oik at a PR company (I assume) did not think we were worthy of the ticket I had already been promised. Never mind the fact that I suspect this person, whoever she is, was probably not born at the time I got into the genre; it is entirely possible that I have been in the music business since before he/she was born! No doubt hired because of her breasts, not her brains, whoever allocated the tickets has made a lot of enemies in the rock music business. I hope the person has already been sacked and black-balled from the business. Those of you in the UK can watch the award show on Channel 4 in the UK. I will make sure to be sitting surrounded by only soft objects when I watch it.

Sycophantic twaddle on “metal” in the Times? Surely not! It is amazing what you can write on the basis of one press release. Clearly, whoever wrote this piece has no idea what he is talking about. I only hope he did not have a ticket to the Kerrang! Awards last night. If Kerrang is sucking up to the Times, while excluding rock industry types, they are making a major mistake.

I was thinking of writing a rant against Mbeki and his idiotic statements of late. “Economic apartheid”, my arse, you socialist wanker; if you weren’t so damn corrupt you could pull your country out of the morass it’s in. If countries in eastern europe and the far east can do it, why can’t Africa? Instead of whingeing all the time and blaming everyone else for your continent’s problems, why don’t you do something about it. The US and UK are not reponsible for the AIDS epidemic. You Africans, until you learn to use condoms when you shag hookers, are going to spread AIDS. That is a simple fact. There have been std’s since man started having sex (and probably before that), so this is nothing new. I am sure once a cure for AIDS is found there will be another “killer std” to emerge. That is way life works; get used to it, and react accordingly.

AIDS isn’t a plot by the West to kill Africans; its nature’s way of saying there too many stupid people in the world. Call it Darwism, “god’s wrath”, or whatever, AIDS is a part of nature like any other virus.

Africa has to stop whingeing and grow up. They threw off their “colonial masters” and proceeded to make a mess of self-governance. Is that our fault? Nope, Africa can find its own solutions, ones that don’t involve blackmailing the West or dragging the rest of the world to their level.

A Growl From The Den……..

Although a bit long as posts go, this essay from Steve states the obvious with great clarity…the elite have once again lumped us into groups, because it suits their purposes not to have to think of anyone as an individual. Why, all those little individuals might have the nerve to think each one has some separate worth! Only “they” know what’s best for the rest of us.

If only there were a way to lump all of “them” and give them the lumps they so richly deserve.
