A Follow-Up From The Den….....

And you thought MommaBear was perhaps a bit intemperate in her evaluation of the inverted and useless nonsense that is promulgated [and masquerades as] in the name of Homeland Security. Please read these posts, here and here, from someone who knows what she’s talking about from experience. Courtesy of John W. at Random Jottings.

A Sneer From The Den….....

MommaBear enjoys the writings at Iain’s blog; there is much to be found there. One item in particular caught her eye, where she left a comment that asks for ideas. Corporate shareholder democracy as a concept sounds good in the abstract, but it certainly is not one easily implemented or accepted. Go see for yourself and think about it.

A Growl From The Den….....

MommaBear has long felt that the Democrats were and are still a duplicitous bunch. Rich Galen has once again captured the essence of this truth in his latest tri-weekly column; hence the following title: “Mullings: Hey! Your Anti-Business Roots are Showing”.

Although not a blog, his writings need to be read regularly for edification. [ed. -link updated]

It seems Iain Duncan Smith’s effort to make the Tory Party more “inclusive” has some ways to go. Recently a Tory Association made it clear beardies should not apply. The report prompted this letter to the editor of the Daily Telegraph.

“Sir – I see that the Portsmouth South Conservative Association is unwilling to countenance a bearded candidate (Peterborough, July 4). This naked pogonophobia is all too symptomatic of the malaise of modern Toryism.

Lord Salisbury, the greatest Tory prime minister, was heroically bearded, while none of his successors sported a hirsute appendage: witness then the subsequent decline of both party and country.

Duncan Ferguson, London SW19

NB: Although I am great admirer of Lady T, her pogonophobia always troubled me greatly. For any of you who don’t know what I look like, here is a headshot. Notice a certain affectation?

Barbara Amiel has written a devastating piece damning both Blunkett & Livingston for their anti-freedom/pro-statist behaviour. She accuses “Red Ken” of introducing Soviet-style lanes for nomenklatura. Then points out that as per usual, the people who are most hurt by his congestion charge are the lower classes.

Natalie Solent posts her thoughts on this piece as well.

A Policy Statement From The Den….....

Even though MommaBear’s little outburst on the evening of July 4th didn’t elicit any responses, it does represent a shift in her approach to writing for the Dodgeblog. She takes this very seriously, as it will be a considerable change from her previous style.

Firstly, there are certain premises that drive her perspective. From years of observation of that peculiar specie, H. Sapiens(?), she has determined for herself that 90% of them are either mentally lazy, stupid, or both [hence that question mark, which denotes a serious lack in thinking]. Another one is that there is at least 10% of them who are bent on destructive behavior of one sort or another: to others, to self, or to the world about them. A third is perhaps the most pernicious of all, for it is the group wich would rule all others, mostly made up of what she calls the professional politicians.

MommaBear’s previous writing experiences were primarily in the category of Letters to the Editor, so that style of writing will probably still prevail for the most part. She had a very small but devoted audience in her local area, and the grudging respect of the Editor of the local paper where they were published. Hopefully with the wider audience of Blogdom, she might achieve that same level of acceptance. Naturally, the Editor at this location already likes her [ :-) ]
