Today, 21 June 2002 saw the formation of the European Union Office of Occultism. Its purpose it to co-ordinate Occultists across the European Union. The following are the goals of the E.U.O.O.:
1. To promulgate an EU approved standard for practicising Occultists. Exams and instructions will be offered so that Occultists possess the same level of competence across the EU.
2. To insure that Occultists practices are in complaince with all EU regulations including if not exclusive to the following areas: ceremonies, potions, spells, and sacrifice. The E.U.O.O. will co-ordinate with the Health and Safety Inspectorates of all member countries to ensure the safety of both the participants and the animals used in any ceremony. Potions will be labelled for contents and purity with an E.U.O.O. standard mark.
3. E.U.O.O. will aide Occulists is finding, preserving, and obtaining planning permission for sites of particular Occult interest including stone circles, plinths, and pagan temples.
4. E.U.O.O. will open the European Centre for Occult Studies at The Wewelsburg in Germany. It will be staffed with some of the leading minds in Occult studies in the Union as determined by the E.U.O.O. The Centre will offer degree programs in Occult studies at all levels.
New headquarters for the E.U.O.O. will be built in Prague, Austria, to open 31 October 2004. E.U.O.O. Officers and staff will be temporarily located in offices in The Wewelsburg.

MCJ (which has a new url, btw) has posted a piece about some bigoted minister and his comments about Islam. Read the piece and imagine if it had been said about Christianity. He claims that Muhammad was a pedophile, daemon possesed, and that Muslims do not worship the same God as Christians.
There is no doubt that the Prophet’s last wife was 6 when he married her and 9 when the marriage was consumated. This is another case of a 21st century puritan looking back on history through modern eyes with no concept of history or relativity. I am sure anyone caring to could find lots of things in the Bible that would not look too good under modern American morality standards. And then we could look at the behaviour of the Christian faith after its foundation, like the Inquisition, witch-trials, the Crusades (esp the Albi/Cathar one), et al.
This minister is a complete moron to say what he did. He adds nothing to the debate and is, in fact, fanning the flames of hatred. He has a right to say what he wants, and I have a right to call him an arsehole for saying it.

Bush is wise to stay out of the ruckus, though. It is good to see that Jewish groups were clever enough to condemn this statement from a prominent member of the Southern Baptist Convention. It would be nice to see “moderate” Christian groups condemning this bigot as well.
