Joe continues his dissection of Iain Dale’s anti-Israel tirades on his blog. Today’s post is the end of the series on Iain Dale’s assertion that Israel is waging a “war of terror” on the Palestinians. What Iain fails to realise is that this sort of language is used by the terrorists as a justification for their behaviour. Every time someone repeats falsehoods (like the “massacre in Jenin”) about the situation, it aides the terrorist cause. Once an idea is out of the can, it is hard to retract no matter how hard one might try. Iain, there are 15 dead Israelis who died last night enjoying a night of pool and socialising. Today I saw someone justify it on the grounds it is a reaction to the “massacre at Jenin”. Now can you see the danger of spreading falsehoods?

Virginia Postrel is taking on the ego that is Instapundit, I wish her well. Omphalos thinks it is an attempt to get more hits. This lame excuse is trotted out by some bloggers whenever anyone criticises his holiness. It just doesn’t wash, and it is getting rather tiring. As I have said before, Instapundit has gotten too big for its boots. It is no better than mainstream American media: bereft of real content but believing in its own superiority over all others.

There is a great deal of good content on punditblogs that never gets mentioned by Glenn. Instead we get numerous links to soft-porn sites like Unablogger and any of Glenn’s other fluffy favourites. It is a great shame when some of the great writing that exists in the blogosphere is ignored by Instapundit.

Rod Dreher in the NRO has written one of the best pieces on Fortuyn’s murder yet. It is simply called Murder in Holland and is a very coherent examination of the murder, the press’ treatment of Fortuyn, and its aftermath in Holland. The murder has implications for the rest of Europe, which will no doubt be ignored by the Euro-elite.

This is second murder of a right-of-centre free market/libertarian leading figure in the last year. Some commentators have wondered whether the left, who ideas are now mostly discredited, are beginning to use the tactics of the far-right in the early-30s. If the left are so threatened by men like Fortuyn that they need to kill him, surely it shows they are in decline? How many murders will it take before the Euro-elites start caring about the trend? Will the Dutch reaction, across the political spectrum, to this make any difference in Brussels? I doubt it, but one never knows.

Matthew Kaminski weighs in on the murder as well.

The Telegraph has a interesting leader on the recent events in Holland. The paper agrees with the decision to go on with the election planned for next week. The paper does seem to agree with most of Fortuyn’s ideas for his country. The Telegraph seems to making an effort, unlike some other newspapers, to actually find out about the real man and his party.

They also run a piece by Norman Lamont on multiculturalism, book-burning, and fatwas. I do take issue with Lamont calling Fortuyn both hateful, “extreme right-wing”, & “far right”, or the fact he equates the man with Le Pen. The rest of the piece makes sense; oddly enough, much of what Lamont says is indentical to what Fortuyn had been saying all along. They are both right; it is impossible to integrate those who wish to preserve their culture if that culture routinely seeks to undermine or overthrow your own. This is not racist or xenophobic, it is merely self-preservation.
