A Growl From The Den….....
It has come to MommaBear’s attention that there are a few devious [ed. – deviant, perhaps] persons trying to spread a vicious rumor throughout the Blogdom that MommaBear is some other incantation of the evil Marty masquerading as MommaBear. This is a blatant lie. Those bloggers know who they are, but MommaBear will not stoop to their level to name names.
MommaBear proudly puts up her own writing to stand as it is. Marty couldn’t begin to touch the level of MommaBear’s writing, anyway. To those who would dare to say that all of MommaBear’s writing is not hers, alone, a pox on you! She will continue to prowl about the Blogdom, finding those nuggets and tidbits that need exposure and commentary as only she can provide.
In addition, MommaBear has been informed that The Editor has received a most peculiar missive from an individual purporting to be The WereBear who inhabits The Black Den next door at Darker than Dark. The Editor does not believe it is suitable for publication at this fine location, so, if you must see it, go to the other half of the semi-detached, which those of Dodge(y)blog are reluctantly forced to admit has some relationship to this blog. This piece of writing [ed. – scribbling] does, indeed, seem to have some kind of bearing on the original complaint above, so it will see the light of day, if there is any over there; just not here on MommaBears’ own turf.

A Snarl From The Den….....
MommaBear read this bit with a heavy heart. H. Sapiens(?) has once again demonstrated its rapid descent into some kind of demented and perverted version of what should have been a glorious specie. There are no words at her command to express her disgust and despair.

Adil has posted another long thoughtful piece on the situation on the state of Islam. It is called Islamism, Inc,. There is also a link to Yourish.com. Yourish is reporting how truly stuffed Arafat has become.

As you would expect, the Sunday Telegraph has many fine pieces on the lady that was the Queen Mother and her impact on nation & empire. Television here is full of tributes to the Queen Mum. It will be a very sad week for Queen and country.

It is with great sadness that I heard the news that the Queen Mother died this afternoon. She was a great lady who was the rock on which the Monarchy stood many times. She will be greatly missed both here in the UK and abroad. It is a very sad day for the Anglosphere and we all mourn. God save the Queen Mother.

The Libertarian Alliance meeting last night seems to have sapped all my “clever”. It was a very interesting talk on the nature of the Euro debate. If you want to see one of the pictures of what we got up to afterwards, besides talking, head over to Samizdata. There was much snickering in relation to the depiction of Sweden on the 1 Euro coin. There was discussion of leather as well, both riding and the “fashion” kind. As of yet, none of the pictures taken of me have made it out on the internet. Perry tells me of some more pictures from the Blogger Bash that might make it to the public as well. There is rumoured to be one that makes me look even more evil than the last two.

Those of you stateside might not realise that today is a holiday in the UK. This week most UK workers get a 4 day holiday. Many have daftly decided to join the throngs of other heading to points far away. As a result, most if not all, will spend their time stuck in airports and on the roads of the nation. London is quiet today; one has to rely on non-Christians for goods and services. Fortunately all the shops here are owned by ethnics, so much of Pimlico is open. However, not all is lost; the pubs and the booze store are open so the drunks are sorted.
Marty will soon be posting reviews of last night’s TotalFest 3, Bruce Dickinson last solo album, Chemical Wedding, and a few other reviews. These can soon be found on Darker than Dark.
A big thank you from MommaBear and me; it is great to think we have over 5000 hits. Because of the links and help we have gotten from our fellow bloggers, each 1000 hits seems to take less time to achieve.

The DT is at it again; the so-called Torygraph is turning into the Liberatarian-Graph, day by day. First they launch their “Freedom Campaign,” reporting on how the cause of freedom is doing on this isle, with some despair. Now they come out in favour of that arch evil (allegedly), gambling. In this Opinion they welcome the relaxation of gambling laws in the UK, doing their best to counter all the possible critcisms of the move.
As I have said forever, there is a certain percentage of the population who will get addicted to anything. Should the rest of us have our choices limited by that small percentage of losers who lack self-control? Collective protection/punishment is wrong whether it happens in grade school or on a national level.

The oddly named, but well written, Amygdala has launched Blogwatch A to fill in the gaps left by the other Blogwatchs. Amygdala is yet another blog which I have erroneously left ouf of my blog list. I apologise for this gaff; I shall make amends immediately.

The way I work is the following. As a good libertarian, I believe people have a right to their own opinion if they keep it to themselves. However, when an artist or actor uses the fame which I helped give them (especially in the music field since I am rock critic) to raise money or espouse views I disagree with, then I boycott them. I find it difficult to bear, when I work so hard against the socialists, to know that some of my money is going to just such a cause. There are artists like Sting, whose first albums I enjoyed, who I wiill no longer patronise because of this socialist campaigning, ditto Bonnie Raitt.
The left do it to artists on the right. I am old enough to remember when a smear campaign was launched against Rush, calling them fascists. It seems that some left-wing idiot in the music press believed that Ayn Rand was a fascist. Rush based one of the best ever albums (2112) on Randism, thus earning the scorn of many of the music press. In the last few years Ted Nugent has come in for flak and abuse because he believes in the 2nd amendment, hunting, patriotism, and thinks immigrants should learn English. There have been repeated calls for him to be banned from some cities and venues. Almost every review of his music mentions his politics, generally in negative terms, before mentioning anything about the album or gig in question.
Since 9/11 I think many more Americans and Britons will look closely at where their money is going. It is possible that this trend will encourage musicians, authors, and actors to keep their mouths shut for fear of losing fans. Well, at least the ones who have any intelligence, which cuts out many musicians and actors.

A naked attempt to get more hits again! The Oscars awarded Halle Berry a pre-Easter present as well as bringing Elin Nordegren and Jennifer Connelly to our attention. I don’t know much about Alex Baroni or Ostern, but Passover is coming and I think Ali G and Celine Dion are involved in some sort of controversy. Thanks to the funny Keep Trying for this new attempt to get hits. Google’s Press Office shows you the cynical way to get hits.

A Roar From The Den – REDUX….....
No sooner had MommaBear expressed relief that the woman who had been sentenced to a horrible Death By Stoning had had her sentence overturned on appeal, than Nigeria, in another fit of madness, has imposed the same sentence on another woman. The Guardian has the gruesome details.
MommaBear wonders why Nigeria is working so hard to continue to deserve its rightful membership in the group best described as the cesspool of alleged nationhood, but they seem to have perfected the requirements.

A great cause if there ever was one. There is a petition going to get PETA’s tax exempt status pulled in the US. There is growing evidence of their support for eco-terrorists. Thanks to Kolkata for this very worthwhile link.

According to Ananova, the gun-totting nutcase who whacked 8 people in Paris last night was an eco-loon.
I have to admit my first reaction to this unfortunate incident was one of mild amusement. According to the French and their press, this sort of thing only happens in places with wild Anglo-Saxon nutcases, as in the UK and the US. Wonder if this will wipe the smug look of the French nation’s collective face? Nah, I bet they will probably blame it on the influence of Hollywood films and figure out some way of limiting imports even further.
Update: Told you so! A presidential candidate is blaming the Americans for the shooting.
“A shocked Prime Minister Lionel Jospin called the shooting rampage “a case of furious dementia,” and one presidential candidate called it an “American-style byproduct.”:
One question if the French get attacked by Al Queda, would anyone care?
Update: The gunman has killed himself. How convenient for the French authorities; they do not have to go through the embarassment of a trial. He managed to “jump” out of a police station window.
Update: According to Iain Murray the presidential candidate listed above was misquoted entirely. It is interesting how his words were so twisted.

Your faithful scribe is extremely glad he did not buy a ticket for the forthcoming Politicos aniversary dinner. First of all, while Thatcher will be attending she will not be speaking, and, most importantly, Ann “Evil” Wittecombe is! Gyles Brandreth is speaking as well, not a pull for me either. For once, not committing myself has actually paid off. 100 a head to hear that screeching pro-EU, anti-hunting, pro-Clarke authoritarian hypocrite Doris Karloff speak? You are joking, Iain, right?

Iain Murray has posted a long screed from the Daily Mail about the forthcoming ID cards in the UK. It makes for chilling and depressing reading.

There is very forthright destruction of pro-EU/PC revisionism and British ancient history on the letters page of the Daily Telegraph. Anglo-Saxon Attitude sums up the attitude towards ancient Briton extremely well, as espoused by the politically-correct elites in the UK.
Again in the DT, Janet Daley analyses Iain Duncan Smith’s recent speech in Harrowgate, and, more importantly, the media’s reaction to it. The Beeb and some on the left are claiming that IDS is “moving to the centre”, which is, of course, rubbish. His policies are soundly Burkeian. It is my contention that the left is desperately trying to make sure the adage “in order to be elected as a centre-right party, one must move to the right” is disproven. It really does not matter to them that Bush Jr., Reagan, Burlesconni, Thatcher, and Howard have proven this to be true already.

Thanks to the MCJ, via Shot across the Bow, I got the life-expectancy link. “You should die on Saturday September 13, 2059 at 5:23:56 PM.” It says I will live to 102 if I take care, might do that so that I can make 1000th aniversary of the Norman invasion.

A Roar From The Den….....
LEST WE FORGET ! !
MommaBear has the memory of 11 September seared in her brain, but there are way too many out there that have had their brains washed and scrubbed [and emptied] by the ‘politically correct’ gang, who are doing it every day with malice aforethought. For their own nefarious purposes they want to distort that attack beyond all recognition into an excuse to replace our righteous anger with all manner of angst about what terrible people the citizens of the U.S.A. are for having had the nerve to”get in the way of those suicidal terrorists in planes on a mission to destroy us”. How dare we have put up those towers and buildings!
We need the material found here to refresh that memory over and over again; never mind those weenies who want us to forget. Many thanks to the excellent Pejman for having brought this back to the forefront of our thoughts. The entire post there is also well worth reading; it stands on its own.
MommaBear will NEVER forget!

On Front Page, Horowitz is at it again, with a great article on the “second thoughts” some on the left are having about their support for Islamic terrorists (or causes). Having been a former leftie himself, his dissection of the confusion suffered by the “caring left” is most incisive.

Lagwolf’s old muckers at Samizdata have just published a lengthy response from Perry on the concept of citizenship. Iain Murray also has an interesting take on the same subject, here. As a fellow continent-hopper, I agree with Perry’s assessment 100%. It is statist bureaucrats that hate people like Perry and me, not the citizens of the countries involved…bureaucrats, where everyone stays in one place, never changes jobs or tax status. Globetrotting anglospherist batchelors are a total anathema to these people.

I would like to thank Susanna for not only reading our humble blog, but telling me about it in a nice email. She has written an interesting response to Bryan’s screed, that I refered to in a recent post. In her lengthy response, she makes some very good points. I shall endeavor to post my thoughts on the matter soon.

James “Anglosphere” Bennett turns his thoughts to the EU in his latest column. It is well worth a read, it is good to see at least one American with a grasp of the machinations of the EU.

Cannabis is going to be legalised soon! The Daily Sport, a UK tabloid “news”paper now features a ganga leaf in its logo and is calling for its legalisation. For reference the Daily Sport is the tabloid equivalent to the Unablogger.

From The Den….....
Some time ago MommaBear had posted about the absolutely disgusting possibility of a Nigerian woman being stoned to death in a most gruesome manner. It is with a sense of relief that this will not happen, as reported by CNN. The rationale had nothing to do with sweet reason; however, international pressure did have at least some impact. The appeals court overturned the original conviction on technical grounds. Meanwhile, at least someone in the government is acknowledging that some aspects of Shariyah have no place in this modern day.

Bryan over at JunkyardBlog has a nice long, simplistic, and tepid screed against libertarians. In this rant he claims that libertarians hate social conservatives.
First, he makes the mistake of equating that dolt Harry Browne with all libertarians in the US. Browne is being a complete moron and doing his best to make libertarians look like idiots. (I am convinced he is doing this to screw over his old party and drive people to the Republicans. They booted him out of the party after the last election.)
Bryan conveniently forgets that the happy-clappy/social conservatives have been attacking libertarians for years. Labelling us all dope addicts, satanists, (I was accused of this publically.), friends of pedophiles (Despite the fact Christian churches have been covering for these guys for decades.), libertines, heartless bastards, traitors, and anything else they could think up. I remember back in the days when the Christian right in the Republican Party made it their main goal to drive out libertarians.
Of course, if my fellow social conservative were that paranoid prude Ashcroft I would be a bit defensive as well. He claims some libertarians are just venting and not doing anything about the statist left. What he seems to forget is that, to most of us, a statist is a statist, political wing is irrelevant. Maybe instead of launching long rants at libertarians he should be working to rid the Republican Party of R.I.N.O.s.
Truth be told this inane screed is an exception on an otherwise good blog.
